MEET YOUR CLINICIAN

Dr Rachel Bushing - Director, Principal Psychologist

My Background

I am a mum to 3 early-waking children, and being mum to them has been my greatest education! I have been a psychologist for 20 years and in that time I have worked in mental health and counselling services in Australia and the United Kingdom, across government, NGO and private practice settings.

My foundational psychology training (Bachelors, Honours, Masters) was with the University of Queensland. Since then I have been continuing to learn and grow, picking up several therapy approaches and a bunch of techniques along the way. My job is to make all that "book knowledge" fit with what you're experiencing. Most importantly, I want to find a way to make therapy individualised so that it works for you.

My Clinical Approach

It is really important to me that you feel comfortable and at home in our space, and that is the atmosphere we try to create in our practice. As a Clinical Psychologist, I have additional training in the field of  mental health diagnoses, and constructing individualised treatment plans based on wholistic needs. I can take whatever you throw at me!

I use the following evidence-based therapies:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Strengths- and Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Schema Therapy
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

POP THE KETTLE ON!

Listen to Dr Rach's podcast

Currently on indefinite hiatus (yes, the pressures of working life and parenthood get the better of all of us), Dr Rach and her good friend Nicole Lessio have an impressive back-catalogue of over 50 episodes of our podcast. Each episode, we unpack a piece of pop culture - movies, books, TV, news - and discuss how it relates to psychological concepts and well, life in general.

It's POP + PSYCHOLOGY.
